Rock climbing is a physically and mentally demanding activity in which participants climb up or across rock formations with the goal of reaching the peak.  There are different forms of rock climbing.  The most basic type involves just the use of hands and legs to support body weight as the climber makes their way.  Other forms include the use of ropes and pre-fixed rungs to support the climber.

This sport tests a climber’s strength, endurance, and mental and physical agility.  It promotes skill development, focus, and control.  Rock climbing gives the participant a sense of adventure and excitement, which can act as a motivational or inspirational force.
